Hello, I own an IBM CD-RW/DVD drive and use it quite often in my T22. I bought it on ebay for $33.

I know that M a t s u s h i t a (Panasonic) makes a series of slot loaders with different model numbers. Search eBay for the following:

- CW-8121* CW-8122* CW-8123* CW-8124*
- UJ-815* UJ-825* UJ-835* (DVD-RW)

I believe that all of these drives are 12.7mm high but check and make sure. You will of course need to mount the Ultrabay 2000 rails (i.e., caddy) to the bare drive. One other problem you will run into is the bezel (front faceplate). You will have to cut the bottom right corner to fit the Ultrabay 2000. Another problem is the lack of available firmware if you want/need to update the drive. I seem to recall somebody else here in the forums that has installed a slot in drive but I can't find the post/thread at the moment.

Sorry, i re-read your subject line and see you were talking about slot in drives and have been trying to post an edit, but this website keeps going down. I have been having this re-curring problem with it going down since last night. Is it just me??

Thx for all your comments.

So, you think I can use a slim drive... But it will need modifications ?

Not really easy... :(
