Laptop dies without plug

#1 Post by jwinslow » Wed Jun 06, 2007 10:25 am

My z60m has worked perfectly for a year. A few weeks ago, I was using my laptop without a plug. When I plugged it in, the battery recharged to 99%. However, ever since then, why I try to remove the plug... the z60m turns off instantly. I've tried poweringt on without the plug also, with no luck.

I checked into the battery recall, and qualified and Lenovo will be shipping me a new extended battery.

However, I'd like to be able to use my laptop properly until that replacement finally arrives.

Any suggestions? TIA.

What is it with batteries failing after only a year's use?! Your problem sounds exactly the same as what had happened to my computer (Z60t). When I have the battery installed and the AC adapter plugged, the battery light would flash orange. The computer would not power up without the plug.

Anyway, a new battery fixed the problem (there wasn't anything wrong with the computer itself, thankfully).

I wonder if it'll happen again in a year??!

I have the exact same problem. The only difference is my 7 cell battery is not covered under the battery recall, and my warrranty expired 3 months ago. Right now I am considering purchasing a new battery, but since I am not sure that will fix the problem I might just buy an advanced ultrabay battery that I can use on my T60 as well. If anyone has a Z60T/Z61T in the So.Cal area that is willing to let me test their battery in my Z60T I would appreciate it.
