Time not Syncing?

#1 Post by gmgfarrand » Wed Jun 06, 2007 2:51 pm

I keep having the issue of my clock not keeping the correct time once in a while and when I use the Internet Sync option for either server, it gives me an error.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, the predefined time server seems to be unavailable for couple of weeks.

You could also try one of the many freeware programs that are available that perform the same function, but allow you to select from many more time sources. I use DS Clock from dualitysoft.com. You can have it float above all other windows and format it in many different ways. Here's two examples of what I have running on my desktop:

NOTE: All links to PC-Doctor software hosted by me are dead. Files removed 8/28/12 by manufacturer's demand.

You can add similar extensions in Firefox too.

You could just find another public NTP server on the internet that is more stable and use that one instead of the default "time.windows.com". I've always done that and the windows time sync works without any problems. When using time.windows.com i often got errors.

these are the new NTP server address that come with vista, and they all seem to be pretty reliable,

time-a.nist.gov
time-b.nist.gov
time-nw.nist.gov
time.nist.gov
