I'm not sure about the Atmel chip. However, I can tell you the T21 board will fit in the T22 chassis. The T20, T21 and T22 all used the same case. The only issue is that the T20 doesn't support SXGA+ screens at all and the T21 will only support the SXGA+ screen if it has the Savage IX+ graphics chip (as opposed to the Savage IX chip). If you don't have an SXGA+ screen, then that tidbit of info doesn't concern you. Also, Some T20 and XGA T21 system boards have issues with CPUs above 800mhz.

Doubtful that a "piggy-back" will help if you mean to solder one Atmel chip on top of the other. The CRC1 error usually indicates that a checksum of the EEPROM is invalid, or in other words, the data contained within the memory has been modified improperly. Putting a second chip on top of the one that is already soldered to the motherboard will corrupt MORE of the data being read from the (now two) devices.
Before you even consider this action, try replacing the CMOS (backup) battery. I've seen where this has gotten rid of the CRC error.

I had/have the same problem which was discussed in the thread: BAD CRC1. I think I tried taking out the CMOS battery and letting the system drain and rebooting without CMOS battery - will have to go back and recheck this. I've seen a couple of T20/T22's on Ebay with the same problem. I suspect the solution is either replace that chip or get a good MB.
