Problem with T30 Cisco Aironet Wireless Card

#1 Post by Ashtangi » Wed Jun 06, 2007 10:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a T30 wifi issue. I recently purchased a "Cisco Aironet MPI350" Mini PCI card off eBay - see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 59711&rd=1 - According to the description and the chart, it's compatible with my T30.

However, after receiving it I initially received the 1802 error - "Unauthorized Network Card". I did the no-1802.com hack, and I was able to boot into XP. However, it came up as "Unknown Device". Long story short, I've downloaded the IBM wireless drivers, I've downloaded the Cisco drivers, I've upgraded to the latest BIOs, but it's still not working.

Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

Welcome to the ThinkPads forums.
Ideas we have. If they are good or bad, don't know.
Why did you buy the slowest 802.11b card with only WEP-encryption instead of a b/g with WPA?
Did you get the drivers from this page?

Have you tried letting Windows handle your wireless connections instead of IBM's Access Connections?
Or let the Cisco utility handle it?

I purchased it before I discovered the Thinkpad forums - based on the item description, my understanding was that it would be a plug n' play type installation, thus avoiding any workarounds or whatnot.

I've tried those IBM drivers, yes. To clarify, each time I boot into XP I receive the 'Found New Hardware Wizard'. It searches for drivers for 'Network Controller' but it doesn't find anything. I've run the setup from the IBM drivers, I've tried directing the wizard to the actual directory with the drivers, but to no avail. It just doesn't want to use them. I've downloaded similar drivers directly from Cisco, but no change.
