The lid has scratches but the interior looks almost new! Are you going to sell it to make some money, or would the person who gave it to you be offended?

I actually cleaned the machine after I got it, used 50-50 alcohol wipes for the outside and the inside. I removed the keyboard and used an "air duster" to blow out the dirt under the keycaps (there wasn't much in the first place anyway). Then I cleaned the key surfaces indivudually, and the machine looks really clean now.

I don't want to sell it ... thinking of sticking to it till it lives :) It is actually very snappy with Ubuntu running on it, I take it to the library frequently.

Very nice!

Can someone throw some light on the history of those volume buttons? When did they change them from rectangular to round shape? I have owned A31p, R51, X31, Z60m, T60 and have come across few other models but only A31p had them in rectangular form.

The T30 was the first ThinkPad with the round volume controls. Later on, the X30 and R40 followed suit.

i have almost the same thing...just watch out for the battery. if it starts to die, don't keep charging it. i'm having lots of problems with mine now, not entirely sure how i can solve it ATM.

i cleaned mine up, reinstalled the OS [went from winblows to Ubuntu], but now it refuses to boot. its in time out until i find a cure.

i can't say mine is quite as clean, but i stuck on a Skullcandy sticker in the center of the lid much like the apple logo on mac books...just for kicks and giggles you know...Skullcandy + Thinkpad. haha. lookin' real good.

That is one nice looking T22 you have there. It almost makes me want to pick up a T23. I used to own a SXGA T23 a few years ago. I do miss it, but I do not miss that SavageIX GPU.

OTOH, maybe I'll start checking e-bay for a nice T23. I have run Linux on my old one in the past and it was quite fast and stable.
