Boot T20 to from USB Drive?

#1 Post by TLin2100 » Wed Oct 13, 2004 1:28 am

Is it possible to boot a T20 from a USB drive? I've followed some instructions on the HP website to create a bootable USB jump drive, but the BIOS for my T20 doesn't seem to give me the option of selecting this as a boot device.

Somewhere, I seem to recall seeing some mention that it was possible for a T20 to see a USB device at bootup.

I have the latest BIOS from IBM: IYET61WW (1.22)

Tony,

To the best of my knowledge the answer is no.

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... &loc=en_US doesn't show a listing for USB devices as BOOT agents.

Newer T series, such as: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... &loc=en_US however, list the USB port as bootable with several devices.

My T30 and friend's T22 boot from USB device, but in <F1> setup, the USB device is listed under Hard Drives....take a look. You'll have to insert it before going int setup or else USB HDD isn't listed.

The T22 was the earliest T series to be able to boot from a USB device.

Thanks to all for the advice. I guess I will have to get a newer laptop.
