Hi
I've got a T40 that I think is faulty. For the past couple of weeks, it's been freezing and ive been getting artifacting on the screen. It happened again yesterday, and now it doesn't boot 9/10 times. I turn it on, and nothing happens on screen. One light comes on, but thats it.
Once, i had a BSOD and it mentioned ati2dvag. I didnt get chance to read the rest though.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I guess the artifacts are either a serious driver problem since you metntion the ati2dvag file, that beeing a driver indicates that could be ther problem. Though unlikely, it's possible your graphics card is fried, though I have seen no clear indication as to why it would have died, unless you spilled anything on it or smashed it into a wall...
I suppose only the round with the Z (powr light) goes on? Does it beep? Fair chanse the cable from your mobo to your screen is dead or the inverter is dead. Does it still work when you attach an external screen andpress fn + F7 ?
btw, I'm sorry if I misinterpreted the "1 light comes on" It could mean that one of the indicator lights goes on OR that one of the 2 cold cathodes (screen lights) goes on and only half your screen is lit up.
In either case, check if there's still juice coming out of the cable between your mobo and your screen and also check the inverter. Do this preferrably with a multimeter (ofc.)
If you do not feel confident, I advise you to contact a service point.
Good luck man, and keep us posted!
