WTB: 7K100 80GB PATA

#1 Post by cwf » Sat Jun 09, 2007 7:30 pm

Hi,

I'd like to upgrade by X31 with a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 80GB. (PATA).

Newegg new is $80. Any savings is important to me so I'll take a used one to cut costs.

Thanks,
Siva

Newegg.com also sells an 80 GB Seagate (5400 rpm) for $54. It works excellent and comes with a five year warranty. The Cloning/Transfer tools on seagate.com work excellent and are totally free.

I use this hard drive in my X30 and quite frankly this this is an excellent solution for upgrading this model. The price and performance is perhaps unbeatable unless you buy used...the five year warranty is the icing on the cake.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I currently have an 80GB 5200RPM Harddrive. I want to upgrade this to 7200RPM after reading all the positive feedback from other X31 owners with 7k100. But a even a little saving goes a long way for me and I much prefer reusing/recyling over buying new.

Are you selling your old drive?

I need to replace a dead drive for a friend, and his budget is way limited. (the laptop was salvaged from a trash-can, and I'm not charging him labor).
IBM TP T40 | 2GB RAM | 14.1" XGA |
100GB 7K100 | | 1.6 Dothan (donated to life-long friend)

IBM TP T60P | 2GB RAM | 15.4" IPS-SXGA |
120GB | T7200 | (thank you Brent Presley)

I can't sell it until I get a replacement cuz I'll need to ghost the image over to the new drive :-)

If he's on a limited budget then just pick-up a small, old HD. My current HD is definitely not the cheapest you can get.
