A21M Bad Mobo Soildered CPU
Hello All,
I'm new to the forum. Hope someone can help. I have an A21M MT2628-DU2 w/bad MB. Downloaded the IBM repair manual and disassembeld the unit only to find that the CPU is soildered in place. Is there a replacement MB/CPU combination that will work and at what cost? The current CPU is 750MHz Thanks for your help

It was the internal battery. Replaced it with one from Radio Shack and the laptop booted right up.
Thanks to All

replacing your internal battery
i need to fix my dead A22m. i saw that you replaced the cmos battery (CR2032). i've never torn into my laptop other than LCD replacement. how much hardware do you need to remove to replace the internal battery and how long did it take to do it? any special tools required?
thanks

I took me about 1Hr. Download the repair manual and you can follow the steps. The original battery has a plastic sheath with the terminals attached. I had to slice the plastic, pry off the terminals and reattach them to the new battery. You may be able to purchase an OEM battery from IBM and avoid having to slice and dice. Also before replacing the battery, try just removing and reinstalling it and see if that works.
Good Luck
