I think my mouse is sick

#1 Post by clearlipstick » Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:22 pm

I have just purchased a x41 from ebay. It is like new. I have noticed a problem with the mouse. This happens if I use a normal mouse attached to the laptop, or the thinkpad red dot mouse.
When I highlight material I want to delete, or edit in my essays, I am finding sometimes the section only I want highlighted stays highlighted,(good) at other times as I move me mouse away after highlighting a particular section, it keeps highlighting where ever the arrow goes. The blue follows the cursor arrow. Also when I go to click out by clicking on the x in the top right hand corner of web the web page at times it grabs the page and moves it with the arrow instead of just shutting down the sight. It seems like it is sticking and not releasing. Has anyone else had this problem and has a solution. I find it frustrating when I am typing.

Did u install a clean fresh windows after ur purchase?
As ur ddescripition, both the left button and trackpoint dot should be working since it can do the hi-light job.
My experience on my STAMP M500 notebook is that, the driver of the touch pad is having someproblem, so tapping on the pad doesnt effect as left click.
I do believe that its ur drivers problem
Try to reinstall a clean Window and update the most recent Trackpoint driver+utlity.
It should be alrite.
Or if Hardware problem, only way is to buy a external mouse or change the entire keyboard + Trackpoint

Ironically... this is a Office problem.

I had it on a plethora of machines already. Just close word and re-open it. Your problem will be solved. I suggest that if you use an official verion, that you update it.

Otherwise just send an email to microsoft stating the issue.

good luck!

ps: you'll probably find that it only does that IN WORD :D

edit: didn't read the message fully, sorry for that. Try and use the ibm system update tool to reinstall your drivers... And oh, check if tap-hold is selected in the ultranav tool! I had some kwirky problems with that too back in the days! There is an option that if you tap and hold for like a sec that it turns into a *grab*.

just my 2 cents
