XGA or SXGA?

#1 Post by -nick » Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:34 pm

Hi folks,
Is there a simple way to determine which display I have? All that comes up under the sys info for display is the driver info - S3 Savage IX.

Also, is there a rule for which motherboards match with which LCD's?

And on a possibly related note, can a mobo cook ram chips? I've gone through two since my T21 started acting up (random reboots when I pick it up, dvd drive problems). All this came up at once...

cheers

If you have an IX and not an IX+, then your screen is definitely XGA. However, a better test is going into control panel and looking for the highest resolution Windows will let you display on the LCD without going into a virtual desktop.

2647-57u,5bu,97u,9bu,5au,9au

Shh!!! You've giving away my secret eBay search algorithm!! :)

Actually, if you find a 850Mhz T21 (and you can be reasonably assured that somebody hasn't fooled around with upgrading the CPU), it should also come with the SXGA+ screen.
