NuShield Screen protector...I LIKE!

#1 Post by ducky2802 » Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:24 am

Hi Everyone,

I dont know if anyone else is as picky as I am about screens...not so much the actual screen quality (which I read is always up for debate), but about keeping whichever screen you have free from markings. I always get uneasy whenever my friends start to point at my screen with their fingers, mechanical pencils, etc, and I really dont like my keyboard and trackpoint leaving marks, so I decided to look into screen protectors.

First, I tried a company called ProtecT Computer Products. Perhaps their products do work, BUT, the screen protectors for the thinkpads use this little strip of glue around the edges to hold them in place. Not only does it look terrible on your screen (because you can clearly see where the glue strip is), the glue itself DOES leave a small amount of residue when removed...despite what the representatives claim.

Then I saw a post on here of a member using Nushield on his T4x series computer. I finally decided tor order one, and two days later, got the envelope in the mail. I put it on the "easy" way (without taking off the screws because I didnt feel like marking up the thinkpad screw cover stickers as I attempted to pull them off), but it did go on pretty easily nonetheless. Doing it again, I would advise removing the screen bezel.

Anyways, the protector is NICE. No glue, no residue, a bit of glare yes, but nothing that distracts me too much. It just works! The lcd shines through and indoors, seems a bit brighter, but probably because it reflects some of the interior light. More importantly, it really does keep my screen safe from pokes and points. Overall, the best $20 investment I could make to keep my screen looking new!
