13N5347 T41/P Long Fan - Fits in a T41?

#1 Post by Harryc » Mon Jun 11, 2007 7:44 am

It's frustrating trying to get good information of T4X fan applications, particularly if the part number is discontinued. Does anyone know for a fact whether or not a T41/P long fan part number 13N5347 fits in a T41? Supposedly this 13N5347 part has an M10 designation, whatever that means. Some of the recommendations even on this forum are all over the map. .e.g. use the M10, don't use an M10, on and on. A couple of threads are saying that 13N5347 fixed the pulsing fan noise problem on a T40, but I can't find mention of a T41. Many recommend using a 'long fan ' in a T41, but don't specify which part number. Are all T4X fans interchangeable?

I'd say all T4x fans are interchangeable, the only thing to bare in mind is that you'll need the long fan if you have a dedicated chip. But why do you want that long fan, because of the pulsating noise?

I'm unsure which fans do not pulsate, my T42p have a T43p fan (don't have the FRU ATM) and it pulsates at 3600rpm-4200rpm. I did knew T42/T42p fans were the ones with more quiet functioning.

So in other words, you can use that fan in your T41 machine.

Past: T420 HD+, X61s XGA, T61 14" SXGA+, T42p 14.1 SXGA+, T30, A22e

I read several threads that recommended a long fan because it does not pulse. .e.g -

I am open to any suggestions that will eliminate that noise.

What machine type/model did you do this in? If that was in a T41 this is good news because according to this site, the 41w5204 is a replacement for 13n5347. I have 13n5347 on the way ...

It was a T40. I'm pretty sure the heatsinks are interchangeable between all the T4x's.
