LCD Monitor

I have searched for an answer for this but with no luck.

I recently picked up a T40 and the resolution is 1024X768. XGA ??

My A31 has resolution 1400x1050 What screen is this....

I am extremely happy with my A31's resolution, (clean, and crisp) but this new T40's 1024X768 is making me antsy with the slightly washed out look......Not sure if I can tweak it in anyway but would like to upgrade it but not sure to what.....
