Repairing keyboard keys

#1 Post by gundra » Tue Jun 12, 2007 2:01 am

On my new x60s laptop a spacebar key wasn't inserted correctly. I searched the web for key replacing manuals but didn’t find anything concrete. Could anybody help me with the problem? I’m afraid I could break the key if I would just try to rip it of without any prior knowledge...

Just call support and they will send you a laptop. I broke the hinge on one of the keys and they said that they only replace the entire keyboard.

Unless your spacebar is actually broken (probably not), what's probably wrong is that this little metal support that holds the key up has dislodged itself from a plastic base underneath the key.

It's not obvious, and difficult to make a repair manual, but if you mess around with it I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out and fix it...

Sans this, yes, call Lenovo and request a replacement keyboard.

That's what I did. I called support and they promised they will replace the keyboard. Thanks!
