DVD Drive Won't Open

#1 Post by kduniverse » Wed Jun 13, 2007 9:51 am

it will blink a few times then nothing. If I use the paperclip method, it will open, but when I put a disk in, still nothing. What's up?

It would help to know which TP you're using.
However, this was a known problem with some drives and the DLA utility. You could try this patch:

T23 2647-9LG, 14,1 SXGA+, XP Pro, no hairdryer

I'd give the patch a go, it works with W2K and XP

Says it's already installed.

have you checked for a newer driver, or uninstalled and re-install your current driver?

I check Software Installer weekly and I seriously haven't had an update in 5 months.

Try the following. Go to My Computer, right-click on the DVD drive, choose Properties > DLA, and uncheck box to "Enable DLA on your drives".

You can also uninstall DLA if you do not use packet writing to your DVD drive. Any packet writing software can be suspect. Nero has one called INCD.

To be honest, I have no idea what packet writing is. I unchecked the box. Does the program Sonic have anything to do with this. Looks like it's associated somehow.

Sonic makes DLA as well as RecordNow! They are separate programs for doing different things. RecordNow! seems to work OK.
