T43 and Dell 2407FPW at 1920 x 1200 resolution

#1 Post by kmshuler » Wed Jun 13, 2007 4:52 pm

I am having trouble getting my T43 and Dell 2407FPW monitor to display 1920 x 1200 resolution properly. The T43 has an ATI x300 card.

The symptom I get is that my T43 displays on the monitor but I must move the mouse cursor up, down, left or right to see all portions of the screen. In other words, it is as iff I have a virtual screen that is bigger than my 2407FPW. Also, the pixels look like they are interpolated and not at the native 1920 x 1200 resolution.

I get this display whether I connect through the thinkpad VGA directly to the monitor or through the docking station VGA to the monitor.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Which ATI driver are you using?

I was able to solve the problem!

The driver version is ATI 8.163.1.11 dated 1/21/2006.

There is ATI software installed that seems to supercede the settings in the Thinkpad software and Windows software. I changed the resolution in the "ATI Displays" tab. I got there by:

1. Right-click on the desktop and select "Properties"
2. Click the "Settings" tab, then click "Advanced". A ton of tabs will appear.
3. Click the "ATI Displays" tab.
4. Change the settings under "Monitor"

Everything seems to work OK now!
