T40 V T41 keyboard

#1 Post by Brad » Fri Jun 15, 2007 12:54 pm

I have to replace a T40 keyboard. I don't have the machine yet and I see that the T41 keyboard that I have to replace it with has a fourth standoff by the mouse keys. My T43p does not have this fourth standoff. Does anyone know if this T41 keyboard will fit a T40?

Thanks

All T4x keyboard are the same, the thing you need to check is if the keyboard is meant to be used on 15" or 14.1". 14.1" uses 4 screws.

However there are basically 3 types of keyboards (where they were made). Thai mad keyboard have the best feel, I've one using right now and feels great. I've a China made keyboard and the keys make more noise and the base where the keys are is more thick (in the Thai model) being more sturdy.

as far as i know the T40, T41 and T42 use the same parts (within the realm of being 14" or 15" - not sure about if they are even any different other than the casing and screen and stuff like that) The reason the T43 might look different is because it uses a different motherboard compared with the other 3. The T43 uses a different chipset and different CPU so it requires a lil different insides to keep it cool and all that. I don't think the T43 keyboard can fit but if you remove the metal part and replace it then it shouldn't matter i guess.

Anyways, as far as i know the T41 can fit a T40.

Thanks for the replies.

I am going to attempt a replacement with the keyboard I have. If it doesn't work I will report back.

Thanks again,

I think I received a replacement keyboard for my T42p, but the bezel where the volume buttons are is not smooth plastic is like rugged. I think this is typical in T43 keyboards, I've not fitted it but I'm sure is independent on which T4x you have
