T40 screen size?

#1 Post by psychocandy » Fri Jun 15, 2007 2:20 pm

Apart from the obvious way of measuring from corner to corner (this is right, isn't it?), is there anyway to tell what size the screen of a T40 is ???

well that's the easiest way. They only come in 2 sizes, 14" and a 15" (assuming you have a T4x series) The other way is to look up your type on lenovo.com and that'll give you all the information about the system. Normally the type is something like 2373-AMU on a barcoded sticker on the bottom. The next way which you don't wanna do is to pull the system apart and get the FRU (part number) and check it on Lenovo.com.

If you have the system tho it should be fairly easy to tell, 15" does seem a lot bigger than a 14" laptop (heavier too!)

T40 and T41's only had 14" LCD's.

T42 and T43's offered 14 or 15" LCD's.

That might help!

Well, "everything is relative", and if you check the photos in the thread: T42 14" and T42p 15" comparison, some may perhaps argue that the difference is size not that big! :-)

ok well he's not a Thinkpadder, maybe not even a regular laptop user but as soon as I see a 15" i know it! :) It's only .7lbs heavier or something but that might as well be 2lbs because it just feels HUGE compared to my 14". My friend got a T42 (not sure if it was a P) from her school as part of her tuition, nice system but that thing was just huge to carry to school all the time. As soon as she had mine she fell inlove with it.

Maybe not everyone cares about size especially if you're using it as a desktop replacement, but i'm telling ya, .7lbs extra kills my shoulders!

I hear that! I just switched from a T40 to a T42p 15". The extra weight and size is upsetting. I can live with it though, because my Thinkpad is also my desktop replacement now.
