Re-flash using backup file bios

Hello everybody,
I am using Winphlash to backup my bios so I have a *.bak file. Can this file be used to reflash, of course after changing .bak with .wph? I have a IBM Thinkpad R32 and my Atheros wireless card is not accepted so I'am trying to change vend/dev ID's inside bios. IBM is providing a *.fl1 file which is compressed so I cannot modify it as the checksum will be broken. If anyone has this knowledge, please help me because I've been trying to solve this problem for a month already. Thank you in advance.
