Very Cool Lenovo ThinkPad Commercial
Very Cool Lenovo ThinkPad Commercial
Here's a YouTube link for what must be the best commercial ever for a brand of notebook computers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGc1LrRoDW4 . I wonder if my X60s will bend like that if I throw it against a wall.

I interviewed someone from NASA a few years ago. He told me that NASA was issuing ThinkPads for the shuttle flights and International Space Station. Maybe NASA was testing how long a ThinkPad could function underwater before it stops working.
He also said the ThinkPad configurations weren't recent vintage, because of the time-consuming tests required to certify them for space flight.

If you throw it with enough force it will. I wouldn't count on it working afterwards, though. You'd be lucky if the hard drive survives.DavidE wrote:I wonder if my X60s will bend like that if I throw it against a wall.

I don't like this ad and what is suggested in there!
That's completely unrealistic to me.
Under water? Smashed against a wall?
Did you ever use your laptop balancing in one hand and typing with your
free hand whilst standing upright?
While I watched this ad, I couldn't stop myself thinking TOUGHBOOK.
And those are for real, delivering what they promise.

I agree with you. Kudos to Lenovo for using the Willy Wonka song. But what exactly is the msg of ad?? I get it, but I don't. Yes, ThinkPads are used in all corners of the universe. Everyone from Nasa to the Jane Goodall institutelophiomys wrote:I don't like this ad and what is suggested in there!

They say they are best engineered laptops yet they did not show us if any survived! I would have liked to see at least one of the abused ThinkPads boot up.
As far as using my ThinkPad balanced in one hand while typing with another, yes, I have done that. But not in the middle of the Sahara!
I think the ad would have been better for a Toughbook. That said, I still like it!
As someone pointed out on Gizmodo, I'm sure Lenovo will get a bunch of broken laptops from people who emulated what was in the ad. Afterall, there was no disclaimer and they sort of imply your ThinkPad can be abused that like and still survive!

i think the ads ok.... i mean im all for TPs but thats just unrealistic.... and its a silly way of raising expectations, portraying a product as indestructible when it not the case.... i feel an ad like this will only increase end user disappointments.... we'd all like to believe that our thinkpads can survive the scenarios shown in the ad but doubt it'll happen.... try the above and u'll prolly end up losing ur machine and being 100s of dollars down!

Speaking of realistic commercials, I think these are more able to represent what they truly mean:

These ads are what IBM make.
Computer savvy's will definitely understand what imagery in lenovo thinkpads ad but what about novices?
