Different places. The UltraNav Wizard is the easiest and most configurable. Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > UltraNav Wizard. Second choice would be ThinkPad Configuration. Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > ThinkPad Configuration. You can go to Mouse in Control Panel as well. Finally you can go to the BIOS and disable the TouchPad if you like. Press F1 at the IBM Splash screen on boot up to enter the BIOS setup menu.

It is the TouchPad that has tap zones. I suspect this is what is causing your problem. Disable the tap zones or else turn off the TouchPad and see if your problem is gone.

thank you very much....however...
i am getting this message...
"The UltaNav Wizard cannot be used with Windows Vista(TM)."

if i disable the touchpad i will not be able to navigate without an external mouse...correct?

if this is true...i need the touchpad enabled...

am i the only one that thinks that this "auto select" thing sucks? i find it to be a constant struggle to make sure that when an internet page is loaded the pointer isnt sitting on a link or else the computer goes wherever it wants to...
thats a huge PITA...
i think the same idiot invented this that put gas tank fillers on the right side of our cars! LOL
now what? thanx again...

I assume you use another PITA, namely IE?
Give Firefox or Opera a whirl.

I have not seen IE cause such an issue (my experience over several models), but I do see the Touch Pad (ThinkPad and non-ThinkPad units) cause this "hover selects" pain in the butt problem. I required one client with an HP to get a proper mouse because I cannot use a Touch Pad. ... JDH

I don't have Vista, but now that I think about it, a friend of mine has a HP laptop with a touchpad, which is extremely sensitive. If you just touch the pad and the left-click button at the same time it already selects. Accidentally tapping just once on the touchpad does the same.
Guess that JDHURST is right.
So ignore it and use the red 'mouse-pointer' or an external mouse instead.
