Slimline cd-rw/dvd device

Very easy to slide this device out of the bay.
Is this slimline device a standardized one?
Can it be replaced by a commercial available slimline DVD-RW one or is it IBM, well Lenovo, specific?

You can use a off the shelf drive, but will have to modify it. It is very easy to get out.

A ThinkPad drive has a notch in the corner to allow for the eject mechanism. Other laptop drives will not have this. So you'll either have to swap the bezels or cut it to make it fit.

The IDE connector might be different too, best to get ThinkPad one, and specifically for the type of Ultrabay you have.
