DVD drive speed change

#1 Post by z/svc » Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:46 pm

Hi all,

Is there any way to change the read speed of the DVD drive from default 8x to, for example, 2x or 1x? I've tried Nero DriveSpeed, but it shows only 8x speed. I've also tried within the PowerManagement to change DVD performance from High to Silent, but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

My Z61m has HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N drive, firmware rev. CX08.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Strange thing: before, I had in the BIOS an option "High Performance" for the DVD drive. So I changed it to the "Silent".

Then booted system up, went to the Power management, confirmed that the DVD is in "Silent" mode and... indeed, it is silent, read speed is about 2 MB/s.

So then I changed (without changing the BIOS) DVD settings in the Power Management to the 'High Performance' and read speed is now about 7-8 MB/s. So I have what I wanted to have. Thanks!

BUT: I don't understand why I cannot change it by the Nero Drive Speec. It is the most convinient way. Strange.

Anyway: thanks for help.
