Wifi issues
Wifi issues
My T60p (the atheros a/b/g/n?) occasionally has issues connecting to my wireless, and reports that it gets like 15% signal and refuses to connect to the router, even if it's right next to it, or reports a strong signal but says "good signal but access point is not associated" or something like that. This sometimes happens right after resuming from standby, and sometimes in the middle of me doing something. Other times, when it happens, and i standby it again, and the next time I resume it connects successfully again. Every time, when I reboot the machine it will work well for a while.
Has anybody encountered this problem before? Should I try reinstalling windows?

If you are not using the latest driver, you might try that. Be sure and follow all installation instructions carefully if you upgrade the driver. If you use Access Connections, uninstall Access Connections first, reboot, uninstall existing wireless driver, upgrade wireless driver, reboot, then reinstall Access Connections.

I'm going to poach on this thread as it's related. In my case, I have a T60p with Vista. If I'm on my wireless and then dock my ThinkPad, the dock correctly picks up the hard wire LAN and disables wireless.
However, when I undock, the computer can't find any wireless networks. Diagnose/repair doesn't help. Neither does renew or release IP. I must restart the 'puter, then all is ok again.
Anyone know a solution? I'm set to get automatic Lenovo updates.

Was this it?dtzihe wrote:I had this exact problem when I first got my Thinkpad. There was an old post about this that solved my problems exactly! It linked to a university help page that was very helpful. I can't find the thread now, but I try searching through the forums.

Looks like that may be it. I'll try it and see if I get this issue again.
Well, the settings for the a/b/g/n card is a bit different from on that page, I did change the setting for the gigabit lan... sucks how this is a problem that you can never be sure it's fixed cause i don't know how to trigger it.

Same problem and set-up as you, DenverBrian -- docking turns off the WLAN; undocking doesn't bring it back.DenverBrian wrote:I'm going to poach on this thread as it's related.
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is disabled in the WLAN driver settings.
I have seen it work fine earlier on (brings up wireless after undocking), but since around the time of the update that brought in the "Docking progress indicator" dialog that comes up when I now dock, the WLAN never returns on undocking.
