Fn-Spacebar Kaput After SP2

I got my new T42 2373-CVU. a Great machine - especially the 15" screen with the Flexview and - when required - the Fn-Spacebar hot key combination to instantly switch to something that looks like 800 x 600 resolution. That's ideal for my old and sometimes tired eyes. Trouble is, right after I applied Service Pack 2, the hot key combination no longer works. It seems the Acess IBM key has also become disabled. Has anyone else had this sort of fall out from SP2? I've tried the installed Hydravision package as an alternative, but its got problems of functionality, convenience and documentation (separate thread)

That didn't happen to me - all my function key shortcuts and the blue Access IBM button still worked after I applied SP2.

Maybe it will work if you reinstall the drivers?

I have a 2378-FVU; although I'm not sure if it makes any difference.

Me too. 2378-FVU, and mine was just fine after SP2.

Hey Dash7540 - can you give me a clue as to how one might go about "re-installing the drivers" I've ordered a set of recovery CD's. Will "the drivers" be on those disks?

Hey again Dash7540 - Your mention of 'Driver' got me thinking - So I went Start / Run / MSCONFIG / Startup and ticked everything. Way down the list is a program called TPHKmgr.exe which evidently is the 'manager' for Thinkpad hot keys of every description - including the IBM Access Key!
Along with a lot of other things, it was unticked. So after ticking and a re-boot it was PROBLEM SOLVED! - Now I can go back to using that glorius IBM innovation - the 'Fn Spacebar' fast switch to 800 x 600 resolution whenever the screen gets too hard to read or my eyes get a bit too tired. It makes all the difference in the world. Love this T42! Love this forum - Thanks for nudging me in the right direction!
