Easy keyboard question (T22)
I just inherited a Thinkpad T-22 (meaning bought from a friend for cheap), but don't even know if it works at all yet..
It is missing a down arrow key and the LEFT arrow key has fallen off, but I have the entire key.
How does the key attach back to the keyboard?

1ST Do you have the two white pieces of plastic that attaches to the key???
If you do the best way to do this is to remove the right arrow key by lifting the right side of the key. The white plastic pieces should stay in place and give you a good idea how to put them on your keyboard.
IBM has 3 or 4 ways they put keys on keyboards and it is very hard to explain to someone how to do so.
Practice makes perfect.
Good luck.

Just tried this out on a spare T23 keyboard (same as T22), FRU 02K5545/02K5729. Pictures will be up in a few minutes.
edit: Pictures uploaded, quick web page thrown together, don't have time at the moment to narrate the show but I will update the page later on tonight.

Very clear from the pics. No need to narrate on my behalf.rkawakami wrote:Just tried this out on a spare T23 keyboard (same as T22), FRU 02K5545/02K5729. Pictures will be up in a few minutes.

As most people here have figured out, I don't have much of a life beside here and workmaxinflixion wrote:Holy Cow this was some fast response time.
Basically, everything seems to just snap together. If the keycap has the "X-framework" already attached, you need to separate them. Once you have the two black and white pieces apart I found it was easiest to put the black "U" shaped piece onto the keyboard, then snap down the second "scissor-shaped" piece on top, You will need to slide one side in first, then gently push down. Once those two pieces are firmly mounted to the keyboard you should be able to push the keycap straight down.
Good luck!

No philosophy can ever completely explain cats. They live according to their rules and nothing us humans can do can change that.
It's been said that "dogs have owners and cats have staff". It's true in our household.
As far as your keyboard query goes, does it concern the keycap I sent? If so, I hope it's what you needed. If not, then it appears the site I posted today was helpful to another person. Smooth sailing to you....
edit: Site updated with complete narration and arranged in a simple table layout format. When I get some time I'll do the same for some of the other keys. My daughter had broke the "Z" key on this keyboard so I can see that it's constructed differently.

great video and website with the pics, my old keyboard had this issue with the left key on my r31, I just replaced the keyboard and in the process, the page up on the old one did the same thing, I'll probably use the guides to fix it as a backup, but I like my new keyboard as its not confusing using a turkish keyboard with us layout...

As always, your illustrated directions are worth their weight in gold. I'd be grateful for something similar for a T40 keyboard, but haven't found anything up to now.Just tried this out on a spare T23 keyboard (same as T22), FRU 02K5545/02K5729. Pictures will be up in a few minutes.
