Just got a T21...

#1 Post by strekship » Thu Oct 14, 2004 7:35 pm

Hi, i just got a T21 off ebay with the following specs:
Pentium III 800mhz SpeedStep Processor
256mb of Ram
20gb HDD
DVD ROM
14.1in XGA

I was wondering if there was anything i needed to know before i installed Windows XP Professional with XP2. I got all of the drivers from IBM.

Backup C:\IBM Tools.

The free (crappy) video player and a couple other things are in there and can't be DL'ed from IBM if you don't have the original software.

Uodate the BIOS before installing XP.

Open PC Doctor and make a set of diagnostic floppies before upgrading. The Windoze version won't work under XP so if you don't make the floppies first you can't do it after.

Other than that you should be cool.

Wonderful system. 2647-87U? I had one for 4 years. Loved it. If you've got the drivers, you're ready. The XP install is a snap. Good luck!
