Anyone else ever get an Undead pixel?

#1 Post by none » Thu Oct 14, 2004 7:53 pm

A few weeks ago I was working on my T30 and a pixel on the right of the screen got stuck in light blue... naturally, i proceeded to the denial stage of trying to make sure it's not just some windows redraw bug, or a smudge on the screen... But after I restarted and withnessed the pixel still show blue during bootup, I went ahead into the acceptance stage... BUT the next day I went back, and the stuck pixel was gone... The screen was back to perfect... Anyone ever get that?

That's much more common that you might think, although it's frequently an indicator that the pixel will fail sometime in the near future.

I have a sometimes stuck pixel on my Dell laptop. It comes and goes though and is problably only their 5% of the time. Been like that for a year now, no problems.

A while back I bought a batch of T23's and one of the screens had a "bad" pixel. Since they were used machines I thought it was par for the course and decided to accept the fact as I was deciding which person each ThinkPad was going to go to. I had planned to give the one with the pixel problem to a person who was less likely to complain about these things. As I was loading up the last bit of software on that particular machine, during the last reboot stage the bad pixel disappeared. It hasn't been there since....very strange. Needless to say the person who received the ThinkPad was very happy with the machine.
