What is preinstalled on Thinkpads?

#1 Post by tbessie » Tue May 25, 2004 3:01 am

I just got a Thinkpad X40, and used Partition Magic to move my Windows paritition to where I wanted it, removed the service partition, etc.

What I want to know is, how much extra stuff is on the preinstalled Windows XP Pro partition, versus what would be there if I installed Windows XP Pro from scratch and installed the usual IBM software on top of that?

Alot of the stuff that IBM preinstalls is usefull, like access connections. At any rate, if you want to install xp from scratch, you can selectively download the most recent IBM programs from here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4R3UYK
