Have to load cd/dvd twice

Lenovo R60 DVD-mulitburner with win XP.
Newly installed, all lenovo and MS patches applied.

When instering a disc it is not read. Have to open the DVD-drive and close it again, then it is read.

Happens again when I put in an other disc, then I have to open the drive again and close it.

Any suggestions.
