R shipping sticky (was Lenovo Order Status Error/Problem)
I ordered a new R61 online at the beginning of June. During check out it estimated a mid-June ship date. The next day, when I check status online I got a ship date of 30 Aug 07!! I emailed lenovo to ask (at the email listed in my order confirmation) and it took 5 days for a reply. Meanwhile I called (26 min on hold) and never spoke to anyone. Tried the EPP number and after 7 min got someone who told me they have a system wide "computer error" (I hope they don't use Thinkpads!) that shows incorrect ship dates. He told me again, mid-June shipping. H
Has anyone had a similar experience? Is anyone getting shipping dates? This is my first purchase since the lenovo transfer is complete and it does not encourage me about dealing with Lenovo.

I ordered a R61 on 5/21 (right during the infamous "bezel incident"), so my estimated shipping dates were kind of haphazard.
Initially, I had a 7/6 date, which was promptly changed to 6/26 when the day came. Then my order was rebooked and the estimated date jumped to 8/9!!
However, my laptop was shipped yesterday from China!
I'm crossing my fingers that nothing happens during the way...

Success! In part. The online status shows my R61 was "shipped" on 6/23. The UPS status shows "expedited shipping" and an Export Scan on 6/25.
While I am just happy its on the way, this isn't like my experience ordering a T30, T41, T42, and T43. If it had been Dell or HP I was ordering, I'd have canceled. Lucky for Lenovo, I really want a Thinkpad (and discount)! This doesn't seem like a good way to operate a business.
Always look on the bright side, I guess.

I read in another post that Lenovo offered one of three items as compensation for delayed shipping of T61's in June.

So I emailed Lenovo web sales about these offers and here is the response I got. Other affected buyers might try the same. I have not yet heard anything else, but will keep you advised.
