change on preinstalled XP ... the language

#1 Post by mnezor » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:42 pm

I just got a new R60 in my hands , but the problem is that it have installed XP-Pro in Greek - language that I don't want in this Thinkpad...

Also I have an original copy -CD- of win XP-pro in English from my desktop PC.

Now..
If I format the whole disk on R60 and make a new installation with the XP in English....when it will ask me for serial number I will give the old one . The one that comes with the preinstalled XP.

Is it gonna work???

Thank you very much !
R60 : T2400(1.83GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, 15in 1400x1050 LCD, 128MB ATI Radeon X1400, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Fingerprint reader, IEEE 1394, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

Nope it won't.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

If it is an OEM Windows disc use the key that came with the disc and just call Microsoft to activate it. If it's tied to the desktop it's likely you won't be able to use it.
