Yes, absolutely. That's what I presently have in my 2373-8CU T40 and most of my other Thinkpads.

the hyperlink mentioned above showed only "1 Year Warranty" for this Hitachi 7K60 hard drive?

is this 1 year warranty normal, or should some other Hitachi 7K60 drive come with 3 year warranty?

This alone would make me question whether or not the seller was indeed a Hitachi authorized reseller.

Over here we frequently see sellers of Hitachi HDs who mistakenly assume that OEM drives come with a one year warranty instead of the standard Hitachi three year warranty and list their HDs as such.

In fact, Hitachi OEM HDs carry no warranty beyond a 30 day non-DOA one. While the OEM HDs are almost always cheaper to buy, the reason is because of this lack of the three year warranty.

AFAIK the Hitachi three year warranty covers their retail HDs worldwide, but perhaps that isn't the case in the UK?
