Integrated Camera Software?

#1 Post by mqz512 » Fri Jun 22, 2007 10:32 pm

Hi, I have a T61 model is 7661 A43 which comes with the int. camera. However I could not find any software to use the camera to take pix or videos.
I can only use the camera in Windows Live Messenger currently.
You guys know where to download the software for it?
Thanx a lot.

Sorry, I don't know if there is a software supplied by Lenovo. But I have one question: in the tabook.pdf the 7661 is not shown with integrated webcam! How did you get the 7661 with webcam?

Thanks, MCheiron

PS: just try a freeware. There are some out there (google it), but I have no experience with these program because I am using a Logitech webcam.

AFAIK, lenovo has not released any camera software for 61 series. The link GomJabbar provided you is for Windows XP drivers and lenovo does not provide any for Vista as it installs them on its own.

Try this: In Vista, Go to my computer and then open Imaging Device (or something similar), I believe you would be able to take snaps through it.

You need the Type (7661) and model (A43) to know this info.

I could not find any option in Vista to take snapshots. Where exactly is this option?

I have been using some freeware application to get pics and videos (from here), but I would rather use Vista's built-in feature if there is one. Thanks.

I posted on NBR (user: s4iscool) that you can use a Dell XPS m1210 Logitech quickcam software on the integrated T61 camera. You can use this to take snapshots and record video with audio. Its quite nice and works well. you can download it for free on the support.dell.com site. Once you extract the file, you can find the quickcam setup file. No need to install all the dell programs

DO NOT use the xp/2000 drivers with Vista on a T61. You'll end up with countless BSOD's. (Speaking from experience).

I am leery of trying another driver unless provided by lenovo for this camera. The T61 has been plagued by BSOD's from many different sources. I don't beleive it's Vista but lenovo's integration of the drivers with its hardware that's the issue. I hope lenovo will solve this issue but their record so far with Vista has been very spotty at best.

I know of an issue between the camera and Adobe Flash Player 9 when attempting to use the camera within AOL AIM.

I have used my T61 for 10 days without a single BSOD. I haven't tried to use the integrated camera yet.

No camera showing

#12 Post by emmfan » Fri Aug 03, 2007 2:09 am

The strange thing for me is after getting the camera to work initially, now that I go back to try and use it, it no longer works. The driver under device manager indicates it is working properly, but when I go to the Control Panel and try to access it through Scanners and Cameras, the integrated camera does not show up.

I'm afraid to remove the camera in the device manager, because there is no Vista driver to re-install with. Any suggestions?

Please see this. Kindly install Windows Live messenger or any third party software, your camera would work with it.

I've tried both Live Messenger and Skype, they can both identify the Integrated Camera, but are not able to access it.
