I just received my x61t, C2D L7500, SXGA+, 80GB 5400 and 2G ram. I remember reading posts about tweaking the BIOS to get more battery life but I could not find the post anymore, so it would be great if you could give me some recommendations on the changes I should make. I've went into the BIOS setup utility and have question about the following:
Serial Port: Can I disable this one? I don't think x61t has this port.
Parallel Port: Could this one be disabled as well?
PCI port: If this refers to the PCI slot, and I don't plan on using a card, then could I disable this one as well?
USB BIOS support: What does this do and could I disable this?
CPU: Intel Virtualization Technology, currently off, would it help to turn it on?
Intel AMT control, currently disabled, what does it do and should I turn it on?
Ultrabay (HDD/Optical): since I don't have an Ultrabay, could I disable this?
Also, if there are other tweaks I have overlooked, please let me know as well.
One more thing I noticed is that my tablet has the IBM Thinkpad logo instead of just the Thinkpad logo, what could this mean?
Thanks.

Re: Just got my x61t, have questions on BIOS tweaking
I really doubt any of these settings effect performance. If you don't know what a setting is you shouldn't be modifying it.
X61t — Intel X25-M G2 160 GB SSD, 4.0 GiB RAM, Kubuntu GNU/Linux 10.10
T42p — 1.5 GiB RAM, Kubuntu GNU/Linux 8.04
T42p — 1.5 GiB RAM, Kubuntu GNU/Linux 8.04

I agree with tamasrepus, those settings are unlikely to make a difference. Power profile, undervolting, screen brightness, SD card for ReadyBoost -- now those can help.
Or at least you have the legendary IBM logo, and you can wear it with pride ...
That means you already have the high-performance model with the extra battery life.pudding wrote:One more thing I noticed is that my tablet has the IBM Thinkpad logo instead of just the Thinkpad logo, what could this mean?
X220 (4287-2W5, Windows 8 Pro) / X31 (2672-CXU, XP Pro) / X61s (7668-CTO, Windows 8 Pro)

If you go to lenovoblogs, you will see that ThinkPads that are sent to individual consumers will still have the IBM logo. ThinkPads that are sent to medium or large customers in a number of countries will not have the IBM logo.pudding wrote:One more thing I noticed is that my tablet has the IBM Thinkpad logo instead of just the Thinkpad logo, what could this mean?
