Z60m DISPLAY CORRUPTION/HARDWARE FAILURES

i have a z60m, i was loving it for a year, but now the screen will cut out, or the screen will become corrupt, or when ever i move/pick up my laptop the screen wil cut out, or i get a blue screen telling me:

"System has halted

memory parity error contact your hardware manufacturer"


i have sent this thing back to ibm 5 times and it still isnt fixed...could i demand a new laptop or model...is it he graphics card.....and now the discontinued the z series in the US! somebody please help me or she some light on my situation!

It's hard for me to believe lenovo couldn't correct the problem after your sending the notebook 5 times to them.

Here is what you should do:

-Update your Bios.
-Update your ATI drivers.
-Run Memtest86 to see if the memory is not causing it.

Lastly search the forum, you'll find alot of threads.

YES I DID SEND IT BACK 5 TIMES, THE FIRST 2 THEY DIDNT REPLACE THE RIGHT PART, THEN, THE OTHER 3 THEY WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT...THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO...SHOULDI REQUEST A NEW LAPTOP?.....WOULD THEY DO THAT?......HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?

I am really sorry about your situation. The only idea I have is to send them a link to this forum and this thread and make them aware, that we all are watching it and waiting for their next move. It is very important for us, Lenovo customers, to know what we can expect and what support we will get in case of any problems (like yours).

P.S. Oh, one more thing: yes, I think you should request a new laptop and in my opinion you should request escalation of your problem, new laptop, send them complaint and ask how they are going to compensate your lost time and lost confidence with their hardware and support. If that happened in the company I work for (by the way: IBM competitor) and customer sent that kind of requests - he would be compensated and apologised. So I am also watching this thread carefully....

THANK-YOU i will be calling them tomorrow now that i have the time, i will tlak to the rep, but if i dont get wha i want i will go to the manager, give him a link to the forums and make him aware of how serious this could get....i am ready to call my laywer for heavens sake!

i have had this problem fixed..the guys called me..i let them take it in..they fixed it..it is working well.....if it happens again they promised me a new one..i have it in writting now...and the guy tacked on an etra year warranty/parts/accidental dammge so im happy and well protected for the next 4 yrs!

so maybe it will break in a couple years..and they will have to send me a new laptop becaue the mine is too old to service...YES! :lol:
