What's the point of Easy Eject on Vista?

Hi all

Initially, I dutyfully installed all utilities that were presented for my X60s, after a clean install of Windows Vista.
Meanwhile, I've thrown a lot of stuff off my harddisk which I didn't need (Messaging Center etc.)

I've also removed the Easy Eject utility, with no adverse effect. I can still simply press the eject button on the Ultrabase X6 and wait a few seconds until Vista tells me it's ok to remove the dock now.

In fact before, when I pressed the Eject Button on the Ultrabase X6, I got Vista telling me that it's ok now to remove the dock. After actually removing it, Easy Eject popped up and told me the same thing. So I am better of now after removing it.

All in all, Easy Eject seems to do nothing but use memory and CPU, or am I missing something? Is Easy Eject actually useful, but just not on my system? Or is ejecting a Laptop something that Vista now can do good enough, and Easy Eject is simply unneccessary?

I'm not really sure the real reason for Esay Eject... however.. I tend to use it the same for WinXP and WinVista: To eject USB devices. For me, it's faster to hit "Fn-F9" and select an item than to find the tiny tray icon for doing the same thing...

Good question. I am having some issues with ejecting from the dock and then finding it won't come out of standby. I see I don't have easy eject installed. Running Vista 64 from a clean install.

I wonder if it serves a purpose for undocking?
