IBM thinkpad R60 9462-CTO model LCD upgrade?? possible?HELP

#1 Post by impedance » Mon Jun 25, 2007 7:05 pm

So, i have this IBM thinkpad R60 9462-CTO model laptop.

Unfortunately, it came with a XGA lcd screen with only 1024 x768 resolution. And my graphic card is good one, ATI X1400 512MB.

Basically, i hate the 1024 x 768 resolution. Everything is a little too big on the lcd screen.

So, i was thinking of upgrading the LCD if thats even possible to an SXGA+. Is that even possible?

I spoke to lenovo sales guy today about upgrading the LCD. He said that Lenovo does not offer that kinda service or option. So, i was like screwed pretty much.

I know from the parts list of my laptop.. the SXGA+ takes this samsung model: Samsung 13N7128 (SXGA+).

Now, the thing is... where can i find this SXGA+ LCD for a reasonable price?? Some websites sell them, but very expensive.

OR::

I already own a flat panel 19" samsung LCD monitor. If i hook that up to my laptop VGA port. Could i increase the resolution of the LCD?? I will try it tonight.. :?

Ne suggestions are appreciated.
thanks

The suggestion you are asking is: just hook your external 19" and look on it. What else you are waitng for?

@impedance: The resolution of the internal lcd screen does not limit the resolution of an external lcd you use with the thinkpad. You will be able to use the native resolution of your external 19" screen.

As for the internal screen upgrade: I believe it should be possible as you have the dedicated graphics card.

The SXGA+ screen runs fine on my Intel card. With enough skill I suppose anything is possible. Your probably better off selling your notebook and getting the one you want.

I have the same TP like you (r60) with GMA 950 - and higher resolution would be better.

I could get a lcd from R51, but don't know if it'll fit into mine. :?

Do you have the 15" R60 because they didn't offer SXGA+ on the 14" R52.

I didn't saw that you have 14'' r60. I have 15'' r60 - with 1024 resolution and would like to uprade to 1400 resolution.

Someone offered me a lcd from r52 - 1400 but I don't know if it'll fit into mine. :?
