T42 hotswap HD caddy compatilble to any X series laptop dock

#1 Post by steve_zen » Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:31 am

hey X series users and abusers!
I was wondering if there's an X series out there that, while sitting in it's dock, can handle my T42's hotswap drivebay hard disc.
that be all, many thanks!

The X4 Ultrabase or Dock should be able to handle it as it uses the same connector. However, some users have reported problems using 7200rpm and high-capacity drives (though I remember using all kinds of drives without issue so who knows?). I hope this is what you wanted to know.

Ultrabase X2 or X3 with an Ultrabay Slim Drive Adapter for Ultrabay 2000, and an Ultrabase X4 directly. I also think that Lenovo sells a USB2 Ultrabay Slim adapter.
Proxima - X31 (2672-C2U)
Pegasus - X31 (2672-CXU)
Taurus - X24 (2662-MQU)
Nova - X41 Tablet (1869-CSU)

oh yea gods! I was hoping to avoid the whole adapter scenario.
I've been looking at the ultrabase/media slice docks for the x30 and x31 series 91P9024 91P9025
these appear to not need the adaptor as they're not ultra slim like in the x40 series, I could be wrong here though.
anyone know if they'll fit my t42's caddy + hard disc and DVD drive?
many thank you's!
cheers guys for the info, I have to admit to being a bit more confused now though. so your both saying that the x40 ultra base units won't require an adaptor? arghh! sorry I'm lost

okey dokey, it appears to be a Ultrabay Slim on the T42's and I thought it was just a regular sized drive bay. that'd slightly change the map I'm guessing. I'll keep fishing around to see what I can find.
