which of these cards will deliver the best performance? Not looking to conserve battery, just video card performance

nVidia.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Nope.

By performance I'm keeping this fact in mind that one discrete gpu nVidia gets advantage over the FireGL chipset due to the new fan construction of T61 and the latter still suffering from some known heat issues.

FWIW, Vista gives FireGL 4.2-4.3 and nVidia a score of 4.0, not much of a difference in my opinion.

I think there's a bit more to it.

If you wish to make it more future proof with DX10, there's no way around the 140M unless you want to experiment with desktop cards in the Advanced Dock.

This is a huge pro over the FireGL, along with the 10W TDP which makes it run pretty cool.

Then again, performance wise they are near equal with the 5200/5250, but there's a potential risk the 140M might very soon hit a hard wall:
- 64 bit wide memory interface
- 128 MB of memory

Compared to the V5200/V5250:
- 256 bit wide ("ring bus") memory interface
- 256 MB of memory

FireGL V5200 is faster according to my database. Quadro NVS 140m supports DirectX 10 not FireGL V5200.
