Ha, those commercials...

It's so dumb that they submerge the thing and act like that's OK to do, like it'll still freakin' work?

Then they say ThinkPads are not waterproof...yet.

WTF!

Are we sure that was water? If it were some other nonconductive clear liquid, the Thinkpad would have been just fine. Also, whats to say Thinkpads arent water resistant? Ever taken yours in the pool?

Few people made some good points about this ad(s) here on this forum:

That's completely unrealistic to me.
Under water? Smashed against a wall?
Did you ever use your laptop balancing in one hand and typing with your
free hand whilst standing upright?
While I watched this ad, I couldn't stop myself thinking TOUGHBOOK.
And those are for real, delivering what they promise.
I agree with you. Kudos to Lenovo for using the Willy Wonka song. But what exactly is the msg of ad?? I get it, but I don't. Yes, ThinkPads are used in all corners of the universe. Everyone from Nasa to the Jane Goodall institute

They say they are best engineered laptops yet they did not show us if any survived! I would have liked to see at least one of the abused ThinkPads boot up.

As far as using my ThinkPad balanced in one hand while typing with another, yes, I have done that. But not in the middle of the Sahara!

I think the ad would have been better for a Toughbook. That said, I still like it!

As someone pointed out on Gizmodo, I'm sure Lenovo will get a bunch of broken laptops from people who emulated what was in the ad. Afterall, there was no disclaimer and they sort of imply your ThinkPad can be abused that like and still survive!

My thoughts exactly...
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

It's borderline false advertising if you ask me. It's they only showed the thinkpad for a split second after the crash. I'm sure the screen is cracked.

I know the old Thinkpads were designed to survive a closed lid fall from 1meter on to a carpeted floor unhurt. But a 35mph crash open sure buddy....

My TP didn't even survive a 1 meter fall unhurt.

I love how on the shop Lenovo website it now says:
"The notebook doesn't have to survive, just the data." well...once again, I get the point...but would be nice if the laptop was able to survive too.

That said, if you watch the "crash test" video ( http://www.lenovovision.com/lv2/mediapl ... crash_test ) , it show the notebook working after it hit the wall at 35 mph!

Define "working" the screen was on but you can't even tell if it's cracked or anything else was working.
