Overheating R60e

#1 Post by bmk » Thu Jun 28, 2007 3:00 am

Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask for your opinions - what can be wrong with my R60e. It started to overheat since I've installed Windows on it. Previously I've been happy OpenSUSE 10.2 user. It came up recently that I need also Windows, so I've made plain simple dualboot intallation, with OpenSUSE 10.2 and Windows XP.

After that, computer started to overheat. I guess it's something with the software, as it is overheating only when I work on Linux.

Code: Select all

$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature
temperature:             85 C
On Windows, temperature stays around 49 C, jumps to 70 at the most if the CPU is heavily loaded.

Any ideas what may be wrong? I didn't do any BIOS tweak or updates. Feel free to ask for additional information if needed.

Thank you a lot for help with this!
Best regards.

What do you mean overheating? Does it feel hot, or the laptop turns off due to excessive heat? Have you checked the max temp your laptop reach
