The A22m have 3 screen sizes?

#1 Post by njdjh2o » Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:12 am

I was looking for the fix for my A22 and come across the A22M has 3 different screen size.

1. 12
2. 14
3. 15.

I know of the 14 and 15 inch screens, because I have the 14 and my brother in law has the 15 inch one.

What is the difference besides screens size is between each computer.

I am thinking that my computer was orinigally the 12 inch converted to 14 inch screen. This is probably why my screen show a 12 inch box and the rest of the screen is unuseable..

Yes, there were 3 screen sizes with all the A2xs (A20, A21, A22). The processors varied depending on the sub-models such as: 650, 700, 750, 800 on up to 1Ghz. There were Celerons as well as PIII, but all ran on the 100Mhz bus. There were "E", "M" and "P" models with the Es having the lowest spec and features and the Ps having the highest spec and features (eg. A21E- Celeron/650, 12Gb HDD and A21P- PIII/800, 20Gb HDD as an example). Of course there are many other differences ranging all the way from maximum range limit (256 on the "E" and 512 on the other models) to UltraPort connector, and SVHS in and out connections on the "P" models.

It's possible that your unit has had the screen changed from 12.1" to 14.1", but not necessarily the case. I've done that swap myself. 2 things could be going on with your machine. When you first reload a machine, it can often be set in the wrong resolution (especially if it doesn't have the correct driver loaded). This you can easily change under "Display Properties" > "Settings". It may also be the case that someone did change your display from a 12.1" to a 14.1" and used the old connector instead of changing to the correct connector for the new screen. In that case, you'll need to download the Hardware Maintenance Manual from the Lenovo support site for you machine, open up the display and check the part numbers against what the HMM says should be connected together. It seems like a big deal, but it's really not very hard. The HMM will walk you through the process.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck with your project.

Well this is the most I got from looking to find the fix. I will do that tonight.

I know there are some other member on the board that is having the same problem as I. If that works I will post it up on the board.

Thanks,
