A question for the ages....

#1 Post by scosgt1 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:12 pm

How is a seller supposed to check for dead pixels on new sealed ThinkPads?

People keep asking me this, I have no idea how to do this.

X-RAY eyes?

Sorry if this is OT and in the wrong place, but I just don't get it.

And forget about that IBM 30 day return stuff, for the extra $500 per unit I'll do that too!

It's NEW!! You're not supposed to check it for anything.

As far as I'm concerned, if someone is asking questions like that, they didn't read the thing about it being brand new/sealed.

Just for the record: Dead or stuck pixels may be found using these free programs: Dead Pixel Buddy or LCDtest (I have used the first at several T42's under XP, guess that they also work under Vista).

Beware, however, that Lenovo accept a surprisingly high number of dead pixels, before replacing a display under the warranty; see this page.

IBM T42 (2373-N1G): 1.8 GHz, 15" SXGA+ FlexView, 2 GB RAM, 64 MB Radeon 9600, 64 GB 1.8" SATA SSD, IBM a/b/g, BT, Win 7 Ultimate
