T40 Spec, good price?

#1 Post by lilserenity » Tue May 25, 2004 9:50 am

Ok, sorry to keep bothering you, but I am about to probably (if the funds come through and I won't know till tonight, as I was meant to know on Friday...) purchase a T40, which is a big investment for me. (Though most of the cost is subsidised by the sale of the T23).

The spec I have seen is:

- ThinkPad T40
- Pentium-M 1.6GHz
- No RAM/Hard Disk/Ultraslimbay device
- 10/100/1000 Ethernet
- Bluetooth
- SXGA 14.1"
- ATI Radeon 9000 32MB
- Modem, parallel port, 2 cardbus, audio in/out
- Battery, Charger/AC adapter
- SVHS out/USB 2.0
- wireless upgradable

Price: $1,099 USD. To me that seems a good price but I am a Brit ;) And I would be purchasing a 30-40GB 5400rpm HD, 512MB PC2100 SODIMM and a DVD drive (no need for CDRW, as I have an external device, which gets use on the 560X and 560Z too).

How does this sound. No sales tax as it will be shipped out of NY state to IL. (Chicago) and I intend to collect it when I am in Chicago this summer obviously and get my girlfriend to take delivery of it. (Saves the old customs geezers getting twichy and charging me 'undred squid on tax like).
