T42 mouse clicks all dead but pointer still controllable

#1 Post by wonderdogger » Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:49 pm

I spilt some tea on the gliderpad of my T42 and although moving the pointer around still works via the gliderpad, tapping the pad or using the three buttons above it do not work at all. Is there anything I can do to correct this? Has something shorted or is it just a cleaning issue?

There are some electronics underneath that palm rest that control the touchpad. Remove the Palm Rest and make sure that everything underneath it is dry. (use canned air, blow dryer, etc) Reassemble. If it still fails get a new palm rest assembly. They are very easy to replace.

Maybe it is a setting in the "Synaptic" program in your systray (left side of your windows clock).

Look around in that program to make sure no settings like "Enable ticking on touchpad to click" are disabled.
