The Meizu looks very impressive ... but still no keyboard? Do they really expect people to type non-trivial emails on a touchscreen soft keyboard?

hehe...gotta give credit to those chinese companies making some big jumps in the electronics industry! That Meizu looks nice, but back to the iphone, Im am very surprised it uses the ARM 620mhz processor. That is really tempting because on the E60 I use, with a 333mhz and even with 64mb of ram, the symbian os still runs outta steam on some websites (ironically, certain s60 blogs). While I hope the new E90, which costs almost double the iphone, they managed to fix the processor, etc, Im sure its still using a sub 400mhz TI-OMAP, and somehow, I think the iphone with osx will leave it in the dust. Ever see how fast a mac boots?

Anyways, anyone with the iphone can comment on the voice quality/cellular service/internet use?

Voice quality is decent-not exceptional by any means, but adequate. Internet usage over wifi is fine, decent to OK using Edge-depending on your reception area. I live in rural Mississippi, and the AT&T coverage map shows good service in my town-but that is a lie. In larger towns close by the service is fine, but where I live it isn't. So mine iphone is being returned and I am cancelling my contract, but-as soon as AT&T gets that their service issues fixed in my area, I will buy another iphone.
I lost count...

An unbiased, extensive and excellent review from Anandtech:

I've gotta say, ANY article is going to have some bias in it. That said, it was still a nice read...

However, the constant comparison between the iPhone (the equivalent of a Windows Mobile PPC Touchscreen device) and a Windows Mobile Smartphone (non touchscreen) killed the credibility.

He said the Blackjack doesn't go to sleep like the iPhone...Well, every other COMPARABLE device does! The same goes with changing volume. Only takes one finger, with one swipe down the side of the phone. He used weak comparisons to make the iPhone look better.

I'm gonna email him and yell.

The review was thorough and relatively low in bias, I think. :) As I said in an earlier post, the iPhone has some very nice design work (UI and hardware design), but does not break much new ground as far as actual new functions.

And the review really convinced me that while it will be wonderful for many types of users, it's not really a viable alternative for a business-focused, email-centric device like a Blackberry, for a number of reasons: no hard keyboard, no corporate email support (let alone security policies), no email sync, no email folder support, high bandwidth usage (since it relies on standard IMAP), downloads full attachments (more bandwidth issues!), short battery life and no user-replaceable battery. A long list -- it doesn't mean that the iPhone won't do email, but it simply isn't a Blackberry competitor.
