Benchmarked 3 SD cards on the X40

#1 Post by tsammyc » Sun Oct 17, 2004 6:28 am

Used Sandra to benchmark 3 SD cards on the X40. Quite interesting results.

Old 64MB Sandisk Card - Sq Read: 1.5 MB/sec, Sq Write: 0.88 MB/sec
New 256MB Sandisk Card - Sq Read: 7MB/sec, Sq Write: 3MB/sec
New 1GB Lexar Card - Sq Read: 6MB/sec, Sq Write: 6MB/sec

Since my main use is to copy files from the office to home, the Lexar looks like the best card to use. Also, it has the best overall performance.

that is interesting. i've heard the Lexars are good and Sandisks are prone to problems. I've also heard there are effectively two types of SD cards - is it dual layer and single layer? Can't be sure.

I thought about using a big SD card to transport files as well (using a "Briefcase") but in the end opted for a 512MB pen drive.
